Legion
By Michael Franzoni
What You Should Know: Well, the series just started. :) Basically, Legion #1 picks up after the events of the Robotican Invasion of Earth. The Legion is faced with having to re-emerge as the dominant protectorate force in the United Planets, and to do that, they decide to extend their diplomacy tactics toward the Kwai, an enigmatic race of pathfinders recently discovered in a Lost Galaxy. However, everything is not as it seems in the Kwai homeland. Meanwhile, long-standing member Umbra journeys home to Talok VIII to discover the source of her recent power loss, and what she finds there is not what she expects!
What's Gonna Happen: Umbra's dead-set on seeking revenge on the creatures that wreaked havok on her homeworld, but is the Legion behind her? Ethical and moral reasons are raised as the Legion must decide upon the bonds of loyalty or the mandates of the United Planets. In the Second Galaxy, the Legion must defend their founder -- R.J. Brande -- against accusations of his involvement in the Progenitor's activities. Will the history of R.J. Brande finally be revealed?
Down the Road: A tragedy rips the Legion apart as one of their members is torn from their ranks. Sensor's recent injuries make for a long, mental recovery, and the emergence of a being capable of destroying the Legion puts the team to its greatest test -- including testing their trust and loyalty to one another!
Manhunters
By Thomas Deja
What You Should Know: Cornelius Van Horne has formed Manhunters, Inc. to serve as bounty hunters specializing in metahumans. While the team, led by Guy Gardner, has already captured the Spook, Razer and Bolt, there are signs that the group is not built to last. And then there's the matter of Gardner's new power ring, something he's asked Rose Forrest to investigate...
What's Gonna Happen: The first multiple issue arc, "Auric," begins in issue #3, in which the Manhunters are tracking down Goldface. As old school Green Lantern fans will know, Guy Gardner has a rather...unpleasant history with Goldie, and as such he's turned over the reins to Mark Shaw. The hunt begins in Gotham, where the group learns that things are different in the City of Night...and they may have to make a deal they don't want to make to get out alive.
Down the Road: After "Auric," the series leads into its next arc, "Money Don't Want..." It seems the IRS has declared that the Church of Brother Blood is no longer a recognized religion, and the Manhunters have been appointed to collect the back taxes owed. Also expect the situation with Guy's ring to come to a head, as the team learns more about how truly unpleasant Cornelius Van Horne is....
